We had a day’s workshop again this year to make Sewpowerful bags.
This is a worldwide project to make bags for girls in Zambia, Africa.
There are no facilities in schools to allow girls who are having their periods to attend therefore they miss a lot of school time.
These bags allow them to take their own sanitary products in the bag .
This is a non profit organisation for more information please visit

Over the years we have donated many quilts to Linus. Since Ellayne Fowler became Linus Co-ordinator we have donated a hundred and sixty one quilts some of which have been shared among:
Spurgeons (who make up packs for newborns); SWA – women’s refuge; Homestart – who work with families; NSPCC Swindon; various schools for their Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (looking after anxious children within schools); Great Western Hospital special care baby unit and various individuals through social services.
A ‘Quilt-as-you-go” group project with blocks by different members assembled into a quilt for Linus.
Some of our ladies with the latest donations.
Once again our Quilters’ Day was a resounding success.
We had a captivating talk from Yvonne McAtamney about her Japanese quilts.
Thanks to all our members who looked after the stalls, tables, raffles and the kitchen and to all who worked in the background, donated and generally supported the day.
Thanks also to the two traders who drew a lot of interest – we hope your stashes are now a bit bigger than they were.
Congratulations to Jean Stanton who won the prize quilt’
The money raised was shared between our two charities Tiny But Mighty and Swindon Women’s Refuge.
